TOPIC: Discipline
SCRIPTURE: "Keep watching and praying that you may NOT enter into temptation; the spirit is willing BUT the flesh is weak."
OBSERVATION: Jesus reveals to us that one of the best ways to overcome temptation is by keeping alert and praying. Keeping alert means being aware of your surroundings. Temptations come normally at our point of weakness, thus, we need prayer to strengthen our defenses.
APPLICATION: Jesus said to Peter "BUT the flesh is weak."
Since we know, that that applies to us as well, we ought to go the extra mile when it comes to discipline.
We need to follow Paul's examples: (Physically & Spiritually)
"I discipline my body and make it my slave...(ICor.9:27) for though the spirit is willing, the flesh is weak.
So, don't forget to discipline yourselves physically, IT IS IMPORTANT!
&
Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness...for it is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.(I Tim.4:7-8)
Whereas physcial discipline only profits alittle, godliness will endure forever.
DON'T FORGET
God HAS given us a spirit of DISCIPLINE (2 Tim.1:7)
So we all have it.
The question is, are we submitting to it and walking in it?
We are all without excuse when it comes to disicpline
PRAYER: Father God, help me to be a man that is truly disciplined both physically and spiritually
